English: Members of the Afghan Uniformed Police patrol the Bamyan valley, past the cavity where an ancient statue, known as the "Father Buddha," used to stand, June 16, 2012. The monumental statues were built in A.D. 507 and 554 and were the largest statues of a standing Buddha on Earth until the Taliban dynamited them in 2001. The hole were the smaller "Mother Buddha" used to reside can be seen farther down the valley. (Photo ID: 607652)
