The current Pakistan standard time (PST) was set up at midnight between 30th April and 1st May, 1954. Before this, PST used to be according to British ruled [[Calcutta]] local time as [[Indian standard time]] (IST) which came into use on 1st January, 1906, and was also applied to [[Sri Lanka]] (then [[Ceylon]]) till partition of [[subcontinent]].
