بنگلہ دیش نے اپنا پہلا ٹیسٹ دورہ سری لنکا جولائی-اگست 2002ء میں کیا جس میں 2 ٹیسٹ اور 3 ایک روزہ بین الاقوامی میچ کھیلے۔ سری لنکا نے ٹیسٹ اور ون ڈے سیریز دونوں میں بنگلہ دیش کو وائٹ واش کرنے کے لیے تمام 5 میچ جیتے۔ سری لنکا کی کپتانی سنتھ جے سوریا نے کی تھی اور بنگلہ دیش کی کپتانی دونوں فارمیٹس میں خالد مشہود نے کی تھی۔
