زہرہ شاہد حسین، جسے زہرا آپا کے نام سے بھی جانا جاتا ہے، ایک پاکستانی کارکن - سیاست دان ، استاد اور سندھ میں عمران خان کی پاکستان تحریک انصاف کی سینئر نائب صدر تھیں۔ وہ اس سے قبل پی ٹی آئی کی سندھ میں پارٹی کی خواتین ونگ کی صدر رہ چکی ہیں اور پارٹی کی سینٹرل ایگزیکٹو کمیٹی کی رکن تھیں۔ [1] 18 مئی 2013 کو، اسے کراچی میں ڈیفنس ہاؤسنگ اتھارٹی میں ان کے گھر کے باہر قتل کر دیا گیا۔ [2] [3]

پولیس کے مطابق حسین پر موٹر سائیکل پر سوار دو افراد نے گھات لگا کر حملہ کیا۔ ایک عینی شاہد کے مطابق، "حملہ آوروں نے گولی چلا دی... جیسے ہی وہ اپنی رہائش گاہ کے گیٹ پر پہنچی۔ بظاہر وہ صرف اسے نشانہ بنانے کے لیے موجود تھے"۔ ایک عینی شاہد نے بتایا کہ اس نے حملہ آوروں کو اپنا سامان دے دیا تھا لیکن پھر بھی انھوں نے اسے گولی مار دی۔ [4] ڈان نیوز کی ایک اور رپورٹ میں کہا گیا ہے کہ "پولیس کے مطابق، تین موٹر سائیکل سواروں نے حسین کا ہینڈ بیگ چرانے کی کوشش کی اور مزاحمت پر فائرنگ کر دی" ۔ اس رپورٹ میں پی ٹی آئی رہنما فردوس شمیم کے حوالے سے "پرس کے حوالے" رپورٹ کو منسوب کیا گیا ہے۔ [5] پی ٹی آئی کے رہنما عمران خان نے الطاف حسین کو پاکستان میں ایک مطلوب مجرم قرار دیا جو 1992 سے خود ساختہ جلاوطنی میں ہے جب کہ ان کی پارٹی کے خلاف کریک ڈاؤن شروع کیا گیا تھا، [6] [7] [8] [9] کراچی کے سابق رہنما ان کے قتل کے لیے متحدہ قومی موومنٹ (ایم کیو ایم) پارٹی۔ [4] [10] ایم کیو ایم کے سربراہ نے چند روز قبل دھمکی آمیز زبان استعمال کرتے ہوئے کہا تھا کہ اگر انھوں نے ایسا کرنے کا حکم دیا تو ان کی پارٹی کے کارکن تین تلوار پر مظاہرین کو سبق سکھائیں گے۔ الطاف حسین نے ایم کیو ایم کے خلاف سازشیں کرنے والوں کو نقصان پہنچانے کی دھمکی بھی دی اور کہا کہ اگر ہماری پارٹی کے خلاف مخالفت بند نہ کی گئی تو میں اپنے مشتعل پیروکاروں کو رہا کرنے والا ہوں۔ [5]
